The first two races in the series took place on December 22 and February 2. Danelle Ballengee of Dillon, CO, one of the top multi-sport athletes in the U.S., has been the top female in both races; while, Mike Kloser of Vail has taken a first and second, being edged out by Dan Weiland, also of Vail, at the last event. "Both races have been fun and really challenging. It's a great way to stay sharp and motivated during the winter months," says Kloser, winner of 3 Eco-Challenge races, and a former World Mountain Bike Champion. The run takes place on snow-covered roads, while the biking section is largely on hard-packed Nordic ski trails. The final ski section is a fast, groomed course with some rolling hills. Snow Mountain Ranch is, indeed, a beautiful venue for such an event.
