10-year Lyons Resident Chris Legh's Last Pro Race to be in Kona

After a nine-year absence from Kona, Chris Legh’s qualification for Hawaii this year is viewed in some corners as a deserving feat and just reward for one of IRONMAN’s elder statesman. The Australian's place in IRONMAN lore was secured with countless IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 wins, as well as a dramatic 1997 collapse within 200 yards of the World Championships finish line.

“Kona this year will be the last time I refer to triathlon as my profession,” Legh says. “Time and a stupid number of kilometers have definitely taken their toll on my body, but I have loved every single moment and I will never complain about a thing. It seems the perfect time to move on, particularly because my body has certainly had enough, but also because I believe I have lived through the greatest years of our sport."

Legh says he can't wait to race in the lava fields just one more time and will enjoy every single moment in Kona, no matter what the day brings.
